What is a portmanteau?
Portmanteau: a word blending the sounds and combining the meanings of two others, for example motel or brunch.
Examples:
Podcast is a portmanteau, a made-up word coined from a combination of the words iPod and broadcast
Microsoft, a portmanteau of microcomputer and software
Passenger rail company Amtrak, a portmanteau of America and track
Britain’s planned exit from the European Union became known as Brexit
