
Sometimes we think of morning routines as something reserved for fitness gurus and millionaires, but in truth they’re an amazing, simple strategy to start your day on the right foot and support your mental health.
My morning routine
My morning routine is quite simple. While I don’t make sure that I wake up at a specific time each day (sometimes I need more rest so I sleep later, and sometimes I have more to do so I wake up earlier) but I follow the same basic routine each day.
- Wake up and get some puppy love! I start every morning with kisses and cuddles from my little puppy. This means that I begin every day with a smile!
- Stretch. I don’t do anything fancy, I just do some small, simple stretches for my neck and back while sitting up in bed as that’s where I carry a lot of my stress.
- Skincare! I absolutely love skincare, and my routine is a few minutes of pampering and ‘me time’ before I officially begin my day. I’ll put on a funny YouTube video or a Spotify playlist I’m enjoying and dedicate a bit of time to caring for my skin.
- Getting dressed/ doing my hair. I’ll dress depending on what I have on for the day- if I have meetings or calls I’ll dress up more and do my makeup and if it’s a chill day I’ll throw on some athleisure. I always do something with my hair, even if I just throw it up in a bun, because it makes me feel more put together.
- Coffee time! I love my morning coffee from my Nespresso machine. I use Starbucks Blonde Roast and either coconut almond or oat milk. If it’s hot outside I’ll get fancy and make myself an iced latte!
Optional bolt-on’s depending on how much time I have:
- Tidy up. I like to do a bit of tidying in the morning- I’ll wash and put away any dishes, fix up the couch cushions, fold any laundry, etc. I like to start my day on a clean slate!
- Meditate. Meditation gives me energy and makes me feel uplifted. I love listing to Tibetan bowls and will sit in my conservatory on sunny days and spend 15 minutes losing myself.
- Walk Harley. I love starting my day with walking my dog- it’s so refreshing to get out in nature and start my day with moving my body and spending quality time with my baby!
